Here’s Your Bucket List for Travel Nursing in Georgia

Visit the beach

If you’re travel nursing in Georgia, you have to make it to the ocean at least once. Georgia is a big state, so depending on where you take your assignment, a beach trip could range from five minutes down the road to four hours away. Either way, it’s worth it just to put your toes in the sand and see the ocean. There are beaches all along the coast of Georgia, but it also lines up with the Florida panhandle!

Take a ghost tour

The deep south has its secrets. Discover some of what may be hidden in the historic towns of Georgia by taking a ghost tour. There are few parts of the country that have such rich and symbolic history as the state of Georgia does. Even if you don’t you believe in ghosts, it can be fun just to see some historic sites and hear the legendary stories that have been passed down through the generations.

Stroll the streets of Savannah

There’s so much to experience in downtown Savannah, whether you like history, art, shopping, food, drinking, or architecture. The historic southern city has a character and charm that is incomparable to anywhere else in the country. Its cobblestone streets are lined with tall trees, Spanish moss dangling from their branches. It’s a sight to see! Plus, many people don’t realize that Savannah has the same relaxed drinking laws as New Orleans. You can actually stroll down the street with a peach sangria in your hand!

Get your civil rights education on in Atlanta

If you like a busier, fast-paced city scene, visit Atlanta! Atlanta is a big metropolitan area with large venues for music, food choices from all over the world, and lots of museums and shopping. Amongst all of its modern sky rises and infrastructure, tucked away in discrete corners of the city, are little pieces of history. For example, you can take a walking tour that shows you locations that held major significance in the civil rights movement, including specific locations where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. himself walked and changed history.

Eat all the peaches

Of course, if you’re going to the peach state, you need to eat all the peaches! Peach pie, peach cobbler, peach salsa, peach tea, peach jam… peaches on peaches! Take a drive down some back roads and you’ll find plenty of farm stands selling peach-inspired food. Also, you haven’t had a true southern experience until you bought a bag of boiled peanuts along the side of the road. Soggy, spicy, salty peanuts… are they as good as people make them out to be? There’s only one way to find out.

Hike to a waterfall

When people think of Georgia they probably think of Savannah, Atlanta, beaches, and peaches. But don’t forget that Georgia has its mountainous region as well. Another thing you should do while travel nursing in Georgia is take off for the woods. There are some beautiful lookout points in the mountains as well as spectacular waterfalls that are worth hiking to.
