The PCU or mixed acuity assignment can go up to a 1-4/1-5 depending on acuity. Travel Nurse RN - PCU - $2,332 per week in Sharon, CT - Weekly Pay Range - $2099 To $2332 Summary : * Progressive care nursing jobs involve care for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment, but who aren`t unstable enough to need ICU care. * PCU nurses monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations. * Reports to the Unit Supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities: * Provides nursing care to critically ill patients diagnosed with Heart attack, defibrillator or pacemaker implant or other cardiac condition. * Stroke. * Proficient in performing and interpreting EKG. Able to recognize Lethal Dysrhythmias . Proficient team member in Cardiac Code. * Monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations. Initiates and revises the patient`s plan of care based on continuing assessments. * Includes patient teaching and discharge planning in overall plan of care. * Incorporates clinical and technical aspects of care with nursing actions and interventions in accordance with established policies, standards and procedures. * Documents nursing interventions and patient response according to hospital policy. * Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and methods of implementation. Practices within the limits of the state's Nurse Practice Act and health care facility and nursing administrative policies. * Supervises ancillary personnel in their performance of assigned job-related duties. * Ensures patient confidentiality and the rights of the patient. * Maintains and updates skills needed for excellence in patient care. * Administer complex Cardiac Medications including titration based on the patient's vital signs. Education & Experience Requirements: * Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, with current licensure in good standing. * Minimum of One year of current hospital experience in PCU Specialty. * Evidence of current BLS and ACLS required.
