Travel Nurse RN - Psych - $2,951 per week in Cooperstown, NY - Position Overview: As a Registered Nurse with a psychiatric specialization at our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to patients experiencing psychiatric and mental health issues. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans while providing emotional support and education to patients and their families. Key Responsibilities: Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health needs, including psychiatric evaluations, medical histories, and medication reviews. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and adjust as necessary. Treatment Planning: Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for patients. Participate in treatment team meetings to discuss patient progress and make informed decisions. Medication Management: Administer and monitor psychotropic medications, as prescribed by physicians. Educate patients about the purpose, side effects, and proper administration of medications. Therapeutic Interventions: Implement therapeutic interventions and nursing care techniques to promote emotional well-being and recovery. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Offer emotional support and guidance to help patients achieve their goals. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, care plans, progress notes, and medication administration records, in compliance with regulatory standards. Safety and Security: Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. Monitor for any signs of self-harm or harm to others and take appropriate action. Continuous Learning: Stay current with developments in psychiatric nursing and participate in ongoing training and education to enhance your knowledge and skills. Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of patients, ensuring that their voices are heard and respected in the treatment process. Qualifications: * Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of New York. * A minimum of 2 years of pscyatric experience required. * BLS required. * May float between ER and Med/Surg. * Prior experience in psychiatric nursing preferred, but new graduates with a strong interest in the field will be considered. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Compassion, empathy, and the ability to build therapeutic relationships. * Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
