Travel Nurse RN - Psych - $15 to $40 per hour in Hermiston, OR - Expecting to open April 1st. Specific Experience Required: Prefer experience in mental health residential or hospital settings. Worksite Setting: Psychiatric Secure Residential Facility- Class 1 with ability to perform involuntary significant procedures Orientation Schedule/Days Required: Will be required to work day shift for training for a period of time. DESCRIPTION Provides mental health nursing care, medication oversight and treatment to clients of REACH. Promotes recovery from mental illness. Administers oral medications and hypodermic injections, following physician’s prescriptions and procedures. Takes and records measures of patient’s general physical condition such as pulse, temperature and respiration to provide daily information. Observes patients to detect behavior patterns and reports observations to medical staff. Leads prescribed individual, group therapy and/or education sessions as part of specific therapeutic procedures. Contact patient’s relative by telephone to arrange family conferences. Issues medications from dispensary and maintains records in accordance with specified procedures. Educates staff and patients about personal hygiene such as bathing and keeping beds, clothing and living areas clean. Educates and trains staff on medication administration, ensures documentation is kept according to policies. Must report all abuse to appropriate legal office, complete all necessary paperwork and investigations, and develop safety plans as required. Actively participate in joint case planning and coordination with agency employees and relevant agency contractors. Act as a liaison between clients and other agencies. Act as a client advocate when appropriate. Provide after-hours emergency services on a 24-hour, rotating basis to adults. This includes telephone consultation and crisis intervention in the community and facility. Complete all paperwork in a way that is professional, clinically sound, and timely as prescribed by the OAR’s and other pertinent guidelines. Required to ensure that all paperwork is present, and/or the client record is well maintained. Participates in seclusion and restraint practices, as necessary.
