RN

This is the worst hospital ever. The building is disgusting, the people are unfriendly and the administration is disorganized. I went to one day of orientation then waited for a week before they gave me a schedule. The schedule was changed several times after that, making the trip a disaster where I just sat in the hotel waiting for the next change of plans. Never again.

Please do not take an OR travel contract here

Not a traveler friendly hospital. Abusive permanent staff, no proper communication, scheduler and administration do not communicate. Your schedule is never the same and they call you off regularly. Peacehealth St. Joseph Medical Center refuses to honor your signed contract. Worst travel experience hands down. Housing is over priced any where near this hospital. Shady surgeons. Charge nurses are the worst I have experienced anywhere in the US. No one seems to know what they are doing here. I wish someone had told me this before I signed on.

OR Nurse

As a travel nurse, I see many OR’s across the country. I saw more mistakes in this OR from Dr’s and Nurses. Example, a patient was dropped, lack of patient care, all they care about is turnover and getting the next patient in the room. Exclusive attitudes bullying behavior from Administration, Charge nurses and perm staff. I wish I had done more research before I took this assignment. They also call you off and will not pay you when they send you home for low census.

Malpractice at its worst and no culpability

I got into a bad accident and shattered my left hip and femur. I was taken to St Joes... bad idea. The surgeon installed the wrong hip and femur and after I learned to walk again they had a specialist look at my x rays and he informed me that they put the wrong hip and femur in and would have to rebreak my leg and do the surgery again unless I wanted my left leg to be 3 inches shorter than my right. Before the second surgery I was contacted by the hospital and told to keep taking my blood thinner Eleqis (I have a blood clotting disease called DVT) and that it would be ok. Again, wrong on their part. I told this to the specialist and he was appaled they told me that was ok, but they went ahead with the surgery anyway. I was later informed by a nurse that he had not see that much blood since the first Nightmare on Elm St movie when Johnny Depp dies. It literally gysered out of my leg and they had to have a whole team there to make sure I didn't bleed to death (later I would find out I lost most of the blood in my body and came close to dying on the operating table due to their neglegence. I AM ACTUALLY PRETTY SURE THEY KILLED ME FOR A FEW MINUTES AND ARE DENYING THAT). I had to have emergency blood transfusions upon waking up from the surgery and I felt like death. It was a miserable experience and I recieved no compensation for their malpractice. They also swept it all under the rug and made every record they had of a botched surgery vanish. This hospital ruined my life and I find it hard to find work in my profession. Don't even go here if you are dying. The doctors here will probably kill you on the operating table anyway. This hospital should be renamed St Josef Mengele Hospital after the German scientist who was called The Angel of Death for the human experiments he preformed during WWII because that is the kind of treatment you receive here. Stay away from Peace Health and go to Skagit or Harbor View where they have real doctors and nurses who care and not these crack pots.
