This was an ICU position in a community hospital. IV critical drips, 12-lead EKG and ABGs were among the things learned in this unit. Coworkers functioned as a team.

I liked very much the duties related to credentialing, however often found myself wanting to do more to help people.

A typical day at work was walking in, sitting down to continue performing tasks required of my position--mostly on computer, for 8-12 hours, usually non-stop. My co-worker also had a yeoman's job, and I respected her very much. Management was not typically involved unless there was a new deadline to meet. I learned out of need to be organized and to prioritize tasks. The hardest part of the job was not having enough time. The most enjoyable part of my job was the interaction with physicians I worked with and staff in other departments. I loved helping patients and their families on the occasions I was out of the office. I made some lasting friendships.
