I was rewarded by patients' gratitude.

I enjoyed helping the population at Baldpate Hospital. The job was fast paced and challenging. I learned a lot about treating addicts and psych patients.

Small work place, not much room for advancement

A safe place to work, minimal raises to none, old building that needs updating, policies need to be followed across the board and not picked and chosen according to staff differentials

Fast Paced & Worth While Work Environment

A typical day at work can vary greatly depending on patient acuity. I have learned about the many different psychiatric disabilities and how they affect each person differently. On a day to day basis the nurses are involved in admissions, discharges, team meetings and day to day care. Interacting with a difficult doctor can be a challenging part of the job. The most enjoyable part of being a psychiatric nurse is seeing a patient get well. If an individual is admitted severely depressed, it makes my job worth while hearing and seeing that they they feel better upon discharge. Co-workers usually make or break a job. At my current place of employment, I am lucky to have a great group of individuals to work with.
