Kingswood

At Kingswood everyday is different. You never really know what you are walking in to. I usually arrive around 8:30am and begin coordinating discharges and getting a jump on my psychosocial assessments. At 10am I usually do group therapy and then begin my process notes for each patient. After lunch I meet with the interdisciplinary team to discuss new patients and do patient reviews. Then I finish the day by completing any other assessments, working on discharge planning, and taking care of any reports that need to be filed. The knowledge I have gained from working at Kingswood Hospital is invaluable to me. I really got to see most of the major psychological disorders in their raw form. It was amazing to see my patient's transformation from the time they enter to the hospital from when they leave. I learned a lot about myself as well as the patients. I learned to be more assertive and set boundaries with everyone (even the staff). I really got to utilize my CBT training as well as other forms of therapy. The staff is great and everyone is helpful and kind and always willing to lend a helpibng hand.
