Served my BMO externship

Typical day was busy.Checked patients in, verified insurance, called in prescriptions, entered vitals and medical history into EMR. Performed urinalysis, vitals, administered shots, eye exams, prepared rooms and assisted physician. Assisted in X-rays.Management seemed good. Liked the co-workers I worked with.Wasn't to hard, just needed to be organized. I enjoyed each day I had there.

Very Educational workplace and very upbeat.

A typical day at work (internship site) involved me turning on all the lights and equipment to get the day started. We always had a patient scheduled for their appointment ten minutes after opening. My duties at the time were to triage patient and verify insurance and personal information is correct and up to date as well retrieve any samples if noted to from the patient for the doctor. I escorted patients to and from there room. I handled urinalysis, blood draws, DOT physicals, breathing treatments, allergy injections, administered shots, wound cleaning, as well as assisted the doctor with female exams and minor surgery.

Professionalism of some co-workers left alot to be desired.

A typical day was primarily devoted to patient care. Also washed gowns and towels and sanitize treatment rooms. Taught some Medical Assistants details of the whole treatment plan and additional duties. Learned to use various equipment and exercise regimes to help patients regain their health. Management seemed to focus more on issues rather than patient care in my opinion. A lot of co-workers lacked the professional and people skills that should be associated with a Medical Facility. Hardest part of the job was in dealing with others who were only functional in their assigned duties. Most enjoyable aspect of the job was seeing the Patients progress to getting their health back and knowing that is some way, I was responsible for that.

Intern at Medical Office

I was working in the medical office that my mom worked at and her boss agreed to let me come for a month and help around. I would assist with the medical records and make sure they were in the correct order. The hardest part of the job was when it was over because I knew everybody who worked in the office and didn't want to stop working. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with my mom and seeing what she did.
