Overall not a bad place to work but the night shift schedule left you with no life for yourself.

There were no problems working there, I meet some very nice people that I enjoyed working with. What I did not like was the night shift schedule, I would work two nights be off one then work one.I also worked every Friday night prior to my weekend off, I tried to get it changed to work Friday nights when I worked the weekend which did not work out and that was why I left there.

At the time I worked there it was owned privately, however South Georgia Medical Center has purchased the little place. So this review isn't accurate

A typical day there started with report, from some very fine nurses. My department was ICU and IMCU or (stepdown). Patient load was not too heavy but constant. Management was exceptional, caring and willing to jump in and help at any time. After report and assessment of patients we mostly rotated to get coffee or food. If your patient was medically difficult you could always count on your co workers to assist without asking. The Doctors, many the same from South Georgia Medical Center treated the staff with the respect they deserved. The few that got out of line with the staff were either policed by the other doctors or Administration. They expected patients to be treated with excellent care and their families with courtesy and respect. Staff was always rewarded for a job well done. I can't say enough about the Administration at the time I was there. The only fly in the ointment was the personnel director, she was rude and prudish and got her jollies by spying on the staff. She never saw anything but you would actually catch her peering around corners at staff members. Strange....... Anyway, the hospital administrator was a stand-up guy and so was his assistant. I'm told that both were rehired by SGMC when they bought the hospital. The Lowndes County Hospital Authority is very controlling and I'm sorry to say now they have Smith Northview in their grasp.

Acute Care Hospital

Clinical responsibility included: ER triage (all age groups). Pediatric urgent care admission and phone triage (no software). ER patient care. Code Blue response team. Medical-Surgical and Critical Care Charge Nurse.Primary responsibilities included Joint Commission Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance, and Case Management (Utilization Review). Experienced a successful Quality Improvement project that improved Core Measure scores from 30% to greater than 90% across all measures related to nursing care. The organization was awarded the GHA Presidents List commendation during my tenure for the improvement in the organizations quality scores. Implemented Quint Studer Principles, 3P Rounding, Hiring the Right People for the Right Position, Rounding for a Purpose, to improve patient satisfaction scores.Accountable for 24-hour administrative coverage for clinical areas including nursing, surgical services, radiology, cardiopulmonary services, utilization review, laboratory, clinic services (telemedicine and wellness program). The best part of the job was seeing the staff become aware of regulatory and quality processes then succeed at Joint Commission Accreditation and achieving the GHA Presidents List. The worst part of the job was managing patient with limited resources in a for profit hospital.
