Small community hospital at the time I worked there, very family like

I worked on the oncology unit, with cancer patients, they taught me to appreciate the here and now, and that you never know what life has instore for us all. Many of my co-workers were of multi-ethnic backgrounds and I enjoyed learning their culture and values. The hardest part of the job was knowing most of my patients chances of survival were limited. The most enjoyable part of the job was learning how precious life was, and the gift of a persons life was to be celebrated.

Somwhat productive

A typical day at work was 75% on the computer and 25% out on the floor assisting case managers. I learned about how to multi-task more working with multiple case managers. Management was not around a lot. Pretty much the dept ran itself. My co-workers were alright to work with. Not that much interaction. The hardest part of the job was finding placement for patients. The work hours were the most enjoyable.

First experience in healthcare

I started at this facility as a nursing assistant and when I resigned was an RN. I was very grateful for the opportunites that I had while I was there.

Small to Mid-sized facility that reflected the small community values of the people it served.

Was a growing organization making the transition to modern technologies and changing healthcare environment. Since i have been gone, the facility has grown both in size and scope of offered services. Pay and benefits were at the lower end of the industry standard levels, except for the dental which at the time was $2000/yearly which is almost unheard of these days.Working environment was fairly comfortable and reflected the small community in which is located. Top of the line cafeteria!!! overall a great place to work while attending college.
