Excellent learning opportunity, strong teamwork, great manager

check Operating Room, get report on patients, relieve OB Tech currently in surgical case or set up sterile fields, instruments, supplies for next C-Section and clean up OR when done, assist in deliveries, patient care, prepare delivery rooms, equipment, supplies, nursery equipment and supplies, start IV's, drew labs,help prep patients for OR, inductions, delivery and assist with newborn care and post delivery procedures. I provided care and treatment of prenatal patients as directed as well. Stocking supplies was the OB Tech's responsibility and helping in the Nursery with care of newborns when possible. I learned a lot about the OR and childbirth which is fascinating. I loved working closely with the Physicians and the team in the OR and other deliveries as it was a great opportunity to learn. I enjoyed the camaraderie,teamwork and feeling of accomplishment with my coworkers. Those things were my favorite parts. I enjoy challenges so the element of surprise made it more interesting. My managers were excellent and I always try to do the best job possible, so we always had very good relationships. The hardest part was to be content that everything was done because in reality, if you look for them, there are always things you can find to be done.

Very friendly atmosphere

Employees and management are very friendly. Each day at work varies. Some days are very fast pace and others are not but every day is a productive day.

Excellent

I have been an employee of Sentara since 2007 and have had such opportunities for growth and development in my Nursing career. It is a great friendly environment to work for close to home.
