Poor Communication and Culture

Friendly staff but unwelcoming to change. Poor communication from frontline managers to senior management.Room for improvement but not a totally offensive place to work.

If you like working in a 'fish bowl', this is the place for you!

A typical day at work? There aren't any. I learned that you should never work for a rural hospital, unless you enjoy running into patients at the local grocery store! Awkward when they ask you health related questions, or inquire about other patients. It doesn't matter to them, no matter how many times they've been told not to do that. I tried to shy away from all the gossip, which gave me the reputation of being stuck up.TMI on all employees flying about the place. That was the hardest part of the job. I was dating someone in town who knew everyone (she lived there most of her life!). BIG MISTAKE! Everyone knows everyone else's business in that tiny little town. If you don't volunteer personal info, they either pry it out of you, or they rely on their network in town and find out anyway! No privacy. No respect for a anyone's boundaries. The most enjoyable part of the job was going home. If you have a 3 or 4 day weekend, all the better, but you still have to lay low, leave town, or risk receiving the 5th degree by the residents/patients, should you run into them. Especially embarrasing situations when you have seen WAY too much of patient in a not so flattering light, no makeup, bad hair. It's difficult for all involved.
