It was a work environment that was not something that I would like to continue with

Although I enjoyed most interaction with the patients, many of the co-workers were passive aggressive with both other staff members and certainly the patients. On several occasions I witnessed very unprofessional behaviors from the staff to the patients. When approaching the supervisors about concerns, the person with the concerns were often dismissed and even threatened to be reprimanded. It is certainly not a place that I will ever work at again and would not recommend it to others as a good place to work.

SHS is a nice place to work

At the time I worked there it was run in kind of military type setting. I think that has change with the new management team since I left. The staff there was very professional and a lot of them had been there for decades. It was a great place to learn about federal and state guidelines and how to work with government agencies. The patients had been on medications and responding to treatment for longer periods and were not so unpredictable as they were in the more acute settings. I took a large cut in wages and hours when I started there and then 9/11 happened and the state froze any raises for the next five years and I really needed a raise and more hours so I left to find something full time. I real like mental health so that was enjoyable and I learned so much there. The hardest part of the job was driving to Blackfoot everyday.

Not a lot of advancement for LPN's but the benefits are great.

I've worked for State Hospital South for 10 years. It's been a fun and challenging place to work. I've advanced as far as I can for an LPN so it's my time to move on. Good place to work if you like weekend and holiday work. Floor staff are great to work with, upper management not willing to address problems instead brush them under the rug. All in all I've enjoyed working there.

Shitty place to work!!

Worst place in the world to work! The staff are horrible and treat people like crap, HR is a joke! Sheryl Donnelly definitely needs to get fired, she loves to fire people for no reason and targets men mostly, pretty sure she has some daddy issues! Not to mention the affairs that happens at that place head of HR being one of many! I'd say just stay far far away from working at that place!!
