Relief Charge Nurse and floor RN in a progressive Cardiac Medical/Surgical Telemetry Unit for five years

Being part of this management team, with an extreme number of years in Nursing has demonstrated the balance between stern, fair and available. Outstanding communications. during this time I have mentored numerous students and novice staff members in proper IV placement and maintenance. We have recently loss a good deal of nurses. This has been the direct result of personnel advancement to APRN's. As a result, many of our RN's have less years on the job. On the up side, these RN's possess the newest, freshest training and are eager to perform well.

Catch-22

I’ve worked on a few units at WMC, and IMU was probably the best unit by far. The nurses are helpful and float pool is awesome. However most RN’s are leaving for traveling like myself and the hospital being under HCA is solely focused on money and not staff retention or protection.
