Poor & unsafe Staffing. Poor Management as well.

First Nursing Job. I am from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I only worked here related to my husband was going to college at Mississippi State University. I did not feel safe working at this hospital. I was oriented by an LPN, when I was a new RN. There were other Registered Nurses there to orient me. However, the manager decided on this. Granted, LPNs can work circles around a lot of RNs. I just don't feel this was appropriate. The unit I worked, Med/Surg was not well organized. It was not a good learning experience. However, l learned what I did want from my next employer and future employers.

Productive and fun work environment

I enjoyed going to work everyday. There was something new I learned each day I was there. The other employees took me in and taught me a lot of things they knew. I didn't really view this as a job because I enjoyed doing it so much.

productive, great place to work

I spend most days at work gathering information from patients concerning their medical history before surgery. Using the newer catheters for IV insertion was one of my bigger challenges but co-workers were more than happy to help me. I mostly enjoy being able to calm patients before surgery and answer any questions they may have. I help out on some weekends by working the hospital floors. This gives me a chance to give direct care and use more of my skills.
