Co-op experience

A typical day at work:I had experience working in Obstetrics, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Newborn Nursery, and Telemetry Units, monitored vitals, maintained patient hygiene, and documented assessments in charts, entered patient orders, contacted physicians, and transported patients, administered vaccinations to neonates and assisted in deliveries. What I learned:First time ever applying my CNA certification and was given the opportunity to experience so many different fields.Management:Since I was still a High School student, they were very eager to let me learn and experience all I was willing to try, which is why I got the opportunity to try so many different fields.Co-workers:Very eager to teach me the ropes. I am a very quick learner, so many skills and techniques I was trusted very early to do without supervision.Hardest part of the job:Learning how to manage my time and remember patients names verses room and bed numbers as I was taught in my classes. Most enjoyable part of the job:Seeing patients smile and improving their quality of life.

I did not feel they worked with their new employees.

Due to my jumping in and getting the job done character, I was unable to get adequate orientation in other specific areas to be the charge nurse that I was hired to be.

CCMH Review

The job is good, the pay is low. Shifts and scheduling work out most of the time, and most of the people you work with are great!
