Manager of 2 Units

Early to arrive to hear report (alternated between the 2 units). Learned a lot about what the staff needed to lower their back injuries for the morbidly obese patients and fix that problem. Had to work night shifts for short staffing issues, then stay for meetings the next day.

Poor senior physician education opportunities, but a very strong RN managerial support

The day was 0600 until done. Call was 1600 until completed, primarily to ICU patients with GI bleeds, Obstructions or other diseases that required this level of care. Transfer of inpatient to the unit and assessment using the bedside EMR. There was an exception form of team work at this facility. According to the RN manager (Sarcasm) the only time not to come in was if you werre in the morgue. As an enjoyment of this job I have a value for others that have family. So I would volunteer for excess call to allow them to enjoy their families. The hardest part of this job was the senior physician lack of patience and concern in electronic installment of department equipment which resulted in his being behind. Therefore we had to anticipate his needs to expedite his needs during procedures.
