Southwest Mental Health Center is a private nonprofit Children's Hospital specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental emotional and behavioral disorders. It serves as the primary in patient rotation for the child and adolescent psychiatry residency. The Center serves children between the ages of three and 17 through several treatment programs. The acute care program is a short-term psychiatric intensive care unit designed to stabilize a child or adolescents immediate crisis. The hospital-based residential treatment program provides longer-term 24-hour treatment for children and adolescents with chronic psychiatric disorders who have not responded effectively in less structured settings. The partial hospital program offers short-term less costly therapeutic alternative 24-hour inpatient hospitalization. Outpatient mental health services are also available.
