Great place to gain a wide variety of nursing skills!

On the nursing floor the full-time RN's work 3 12-hour shifts per week. A typical day at work includes first receiving report from the previous shift on our patients. Then we check on our patients, determine and meet their immediate needs, give them their medications as scheduled, and perform an assessment. As doctors come in to round on their patients, we give report to the doctors and carry out orders they give. Our number one goal is to advocate for the patients and their needs and to give high quality medical care. I have learned that quality care and friendly concern and advocacy go a long way. I love the management there. They have high standards of care and promote a mutual atmosphere of teamwork. I can't think of any co-workers that I do not enjoy working with. We are all united in our desires to give high quality medical care. The hardest part of my job is seeing patients come in from other care settings who have apparently received negligent care and who have needlessly suffered pain, bed sores, or injury. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to connect with my patients, give them personalized, high-quality care, and let them feel that someone truly cares.
