About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Oncology Med Surg Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Med Surgical Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty, including 1 travel assignment License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred Must-Have: 2 years of experience in specialty; no first-time travelers Description: Must work every other weekend. Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week. Unit consists of 29 beds. Patient ratios are 1:5, occasionally 1:6. Charge nurse is outside of the staffing grid unless unusual circumstances arise. Three nurse aides generally available per day. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holiday rotation is in conjunction with staff. Scrub color is Caribbean Blue. Central monitoring is available; reading strips is not a requirement. Floating occurs rarely to medical acute. Floor-specific orientation lasts 3 days. Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care. Outpatient area patients may be treated on the floor if they arrive late. Cancellation policy requires notification of 12 hours every 2 weeks. Charting system used is MEDITECH. BSN is not required. Trauma level information is applicable. Care setting is acute. Shift notes indicate hours as 7 am to 7 pm, with every other weekend required. Required certifications include BLS (AHA) and NIHSS.
