About the Position
Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) General medical/surgical skillset IV start skills Experience with blood products Wound care and dressing changes Description: Looking for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Tele. The unit has a capacity of 24 beds and an average daily census of 24. This is a fast-paced environment with various diagnoses including cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions. Patient ratios are RN 1:5-6 during the day and night, with surge staffing ratios potentially reaching 1:7-8. There will be a CNA support ratio of 1:12. A charge nurse may have a patient assignment but will always be a resource for staff. Support staff includes phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and respiratory therapy available 24/7. Hospitalists will be on site during days and virtual in the evenings/overnight. An intensivist will be present 24/7. Telemetry monitoring will be conducted remotely with a tech. You must have at least six months of experience with electronic medical records. Technology includes EMR, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and monitors in all rooms. Staff will be required to float within their region and scope of practice. Weekend rotation will occur every other week. Travelers can be called back for low census up to 3 a.m. for night shifts and up to 3 p.m. for day shifts. Travelers should expect to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off will be approved for up to six days, excluding holidays, which must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. The schedule cycle will occur every six weeks. Unit culture is described as excellent.
