About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain and tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry. The unit has 32 beds with an average patient census of 32. Patient types include those with strokes, respiratory illnesses (flu, pneumonia, COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wounds. Patient ratios are 1:5-6, with surge staffing potentially reaching 1:7-8. Support staff includes CNAs who assist with activities of daily living, mobility, and feeding. Phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams are available 24/7, along with hospitalists and intensivists. Telemetry monitoring tech is also present on the unit. Technology and equipment used includes EMR, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and monitors. Virtual nursing is implemented with a system of cameras for additional support, allowing for remote monitoring and coordination of care. Floating to other facilities within the region and scope of practice may be required. Travelers can expect to work every other weekend and will be required to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, and a fun working environment.
