About the Position

Job Title: Wound Care Specialist Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Wound Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: Minimum years of experience preferred License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: Wound care certification preferred with a plan to achieve within a determined time period Description: Provides care to medically complex patients in collaboration with the physician in a specialized acute care setting. Works within scope and experience and functions autonomously. Has authority, responsibility, and accountability for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wound, ostomy, and continence care throughout the inpatient care areas. Serves as a resource for wound care management, including identification, assessment, treatment, and prevention. Provides specialized consultation on wound, ostomy, and continence issues for patients, families, and healthcare staff. Consults on the management of patients with draining wounds, fistulas, and tubes. Consults for the treatment of patients with altered skin integrity due to pressure necrosis, drainage, or incontinence. Collaborates with physicians and nursing staff to provide updated information regarding wound care. Conducts rounds on all patients with wounds and pressure injuries as needed. Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain desired outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient's situation. Collaborates with the patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing care in a safe and caring environment. Provides learning opportunities for patients and family members. Directly provides health information to patients, families, and the treatment team. Maintains an appropriate supply of equipment and materials. Maintains complete, accurate, and legible documentation of patient status, interventions, and responses. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Commits to safety and well-being of all associates and patients through required vaccinations as a condition of employment.
