About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years, prefers 3 years License: Nursing license required Certifications: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP Must-Have: Experience with over 300 births per month Experience in a fast-paced environment Ability to handle double labor assignments Description: RTO after booking is not allowed, and onsite adjustments are not permitted. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit may result in a cancellation. This unit is considered difficult and fast-paced. Experience in a high-volume setting is required. Circumstance of double labor assignments occurs daily on the unit. Unit typically handles an average of 20 births in a 24-hour period, with a patient ratio of 2:1. The unit admits 30-40 patients and provides 40 visits daily. Nurses will conduct sterile vaginal exams and provide immediate newborn care. Travelers with experience in similar high-volume environments are accepted. Scheduled and unscheduled surgical interventions such as Cesarean births are performed. Candidates should be comfortable with high-risk obstetric patients, as well as performing triage for obstetrical patients. The unit operates with various care disciplines to support patients, including physical therapy and pharmacy services. All staff must be open to floating within the women's unit as needed. Weekend shifts are required, with a minimum of six weekend shifts every six-week schedule. Candidates must demonstrate strong capabilities in patient care practices. This position is not suitable for nurses seeking less than full commitment, given the demanding nature of the unit. Candidates should be ready to provide high-quality, compassionate care while working in this busy environment.
