Schedule:
Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week for a 13-week contract. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Orientation includes 60 hours.
Highlights:
- Float pool position rotating across multiple pediatric specialty units including PICU, NICU, Pediatric Medical-Surgical, Pediatric PACU, Pediatric ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby- Work with diverse patient populations ranging from neonates to adolescents in a regional transfer center utilizing cutting-edge technology and evidence-based practice- Patient ratios vary by unit: PICU 1:2, NICU/ICN 1:2-1:3, Acute Pediatrics 1:4-1:5, with variable ratios in Pediatric ED based on acuity- Epic EMR system exclusively used across all units with strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams- Access to advanced therapies including ECMO, hypothermia treatment, ventricular assist devices, and comprehensive monitoring capabilities- Up to 40 hours of time off may be approved per contract (no time off during the first 2 weeks of assignment)
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required- Previous NICU experience required and must be comfortable floating to all pediatric specialty areas- Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred- Previous float pool experience preferred- Virginia RN license (may submit with license pending; must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)- Certifications required: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS- Dr. Browns Infant-Driven Feeding Certification required (may submit with certification pending; cost is $185)- Epic charting experience required- Previous travel nursing experience required- Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice as needed- BSN preferred- Current flu vaccine required (no exemptions)- Nursys verification and professional references required at submission
