Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week. Every other weekend required. No call requirement. Float requirement applies. Contract lengths from 13+ weeks, ending no later than February 27, 2027.
Highlights:
•
Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, and post-neurosurgery management
•
Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 2:1, may flex to 3:1 during high census periods
•
Average daily census of 11-12 patients in a 13-bed unit
•
Epic charting system with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
•
Advanced neuro monitoring including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino ICP monitoring, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
•
24-hour orientation period (2 shifts) with experienced neuro critical care team
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required (general ICU experience does not qualify)
•
Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
•
Current NC or Compact RN license
•
Active ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications
•
Proficiency with ventilators, IV starts, blood product administration, central line management, continuous IV sedation, and stroke/CVA management
•
Experience with external ventricular drains (EVDs), ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-neurosurgery care
•
Strong interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
•
Epic charting experience required
•
Comfort with 2:1 to 3:1 patient ratios and floating requirements
•
Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
•
Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
