Job Opportunity – Medical Oncology Progressive Care Unit RN – Ohio

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; ratio of 1:3 for PCU patients and 1:4-5 for medical-surgical telemetry patients; weekend shifts variable based on unit needs; 72-hour orientation provided

Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses with high-acuity PCU patients

Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives
•
Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and social services
•
Equipment includes GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, bladder scanners, and PCA pumps
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of current PCU experience
•
Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
•
Current certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
•
Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
•
Previous travel nursing experience preferred
•
Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity levels
•
Required skills include: dysrhythmia interpretation, accessing ports, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PICC line care, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA pump operation, chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, feeding tube management, and tracheostomy care
•
Preferred skills include: chemotherapy administration and monitoring, wound care/wound vac, arterial line management, IV insulin protocols, and phlebotomy
•
Two professional references required (at least one must be from a manager, director, or formal supervisor)
•
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
•
Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing

Shift assignments for rotating contracts are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period and may include days, nights, or a combination based on departmental needs. One pre-approved time-off period is available per contract. Parking options are available through the facility's parking system with monthly and annual permit choices ranging from shuttle-accessible lots to direct garage access. Former employees are eligible to apply if they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more; current employees are not eligible for travel positions.
