# Job Opportunity – Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse – Virginia**Start Date:** October 26, 2026 **Location:** Charlottesville, Virginia **Compensation:** Details provided to qualified applicants **Schedule:** 13-week assignment, night shift, 36 hours per week, every other weekend and every other holiday**Highlights:** - High-volume Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 2,000 annual deliveries serving both low-risk and high-risk maternal populations- Work with diverse patient population including certified nurse midwife patients and maternal fetal medicine cases- 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms with patient ratios of 1:2- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy- Cross-training opportunities to Mother/Baby and NICU (feeders/growers) to expand clinical skillset- 36 hours of orientation with one 12-hour shift dedicated to unit-specific training**Requirements:** - Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and fetal monitoring- Epic charting system experience required- Proficiency in antepartum care, labor and delivery, high-risk antepartum, triage of obstetrical patients, neonatal resuscitation, postpartum hemorrhage management, and magnesium sulfate therapy- Ability to circulate for cesarean sections (required), recover C-sections, and assist with bilateral tubal ligations- Experience with recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, newborn assessment, and baby-friendly protocols- Competency in starting and maintaining IVs, drawing venous blood, and isolation precautions/PPE- Must be willing to float to Mother/Baby and NICU (feeder/growers) within scope of practice- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)- BSN preferred**Why It's a Great Opportunity:** This position offers the chance to work in a progressive, high-volume perinatal center that supports both low-risk and complex high-risk obstetric patients.
