Job Opportunity – Medical Oncology Progressive Care Unit RN – Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; schedule reviewed every 4-week period based on departmental needs. Shift assignments may include days, nights, or a combination of both. Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs.
Highlights
•
36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level of care
•
High-acuity patient population including solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
•
Patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU patients; 1:4-5 for Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients
•
Epic charting system with GE telemetry monitoring; equipment includes Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, PCA pumps, and bladder scanners
•
Strong interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and more
•
Oncology experience preferred but not required; nurses with ICU and PCU backgrounds are encouraged to apply
•
72-hour orientation period to ensure successful onboarding
Requirements
•
Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU experience (must be current within the last 12 months)
•
Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
•
Certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
•
Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
•
Previous travel nursing experience preferred
•
Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
•
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
•
Ohio fingerprinting must be completed urgently upon contract signing
•
2 professional references required: at least 1 from a manager/director or formal supervisor; Charge RN acceptable as second reference

Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
•
Blood product administration and transfusion protocols
•
Central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care and management
•
Accessing and managing ports; IV insertion and maintenance
•
Feeding tube care and management; tracheostomy management
•
Heparin protocols; managing and titrating cardiac drips; PCA pump management
•
Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac systems)
•
Respiratory support: High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula
•
Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
•
Use of Rapid Response Teams and Code Team protocols
•
Isolation precautions and infection prevention protocols

Compliance Requirements: Strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start date with no exceptions. Ohio fingerprinting process is time-sensitive and must be initiated immediately upon contract signing. Candidates who are unresponsive or uncooperative with credentialing may face delays or cancellation.
Eligibility: Former employees are eligible after 6 months away from the facility. Current employees at any location within the health system are ineligible for travel assignments. Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
