# Job Opportunity – Medical Oncology Progressive Care Registered Nurse – Ohio**Start Date:** November 2, 2026 **Location:** Columbus, Ohio **Compensation:** Details provided to qualified applicants **Schedule:** 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights or combination based on departmental needs); reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
Highlights:

36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 progressive care beds dedicated to high-acuity patients

Patient diagnoses include solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology

Oncology experience preferred but not required – RNs with ICU and PCU backgrounds excel in this role

Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU patients; 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry patients
•
Epic charting system with GE telemetry monitoring
•
Strong interdisciplinary support including PT, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and social services
•
72-hour comprehensive orientation program
•
One pre-approved time off period available during contract
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of current PCU experience (must be actively working within the last 12 months)
•
Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
•
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
•
Graduation from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
•
Previous travel nursing experience preferred
•
Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
•
Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
•
Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
Required Clinical Skills:
•
Interpretation of cardiac dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
•
Accessing and managing ports, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral lines
•
Starting and maintaining IVs
•
Blood product administration
•
Managing cardiac drips (no titration) and titrating cardiac drips
•
Heparin protocols and PCA pump management
•
Feeding tube care and management
•
Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
•
Respiratory support: CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula
•
Tracheostomy care and management
•
Use of rapid response and code teams
•
Isolation precautions and proper PPE utilization
Preferred Clinical Skills:
•
Management of dysrhythmias
•
IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
•
Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
•
Arterial line management
•
Wound care and wound VAC management
•
Surgical drain management
•
Non-invasive airway management
Unit Specialties:
This progressive care unit focuses heavily on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention. Equipment includes GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, continuous bladder irrigation systems, and PCA pumps. While pediatric patients may occasionally be cared for on this unit, they are extremely rare and typically assigned to permanent staff – pediatric experience is not required.
