Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on comprehensive assessment to optimize surgical outcomes and maximize available resources.

Monitor, record, and accurately communicate patient conditions and changes to the interdisciplinary team.
•
Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, and referrals.
•
Identify and address barriers to effective communication, considering psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural factors.
•
Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education tailored to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
•
Delegate patient care tasks effectively to ancillary personnel, and potentially precept student nurses or new hires.
•
Ensure complete Perioperative Verification (e.g., H&P, informed consent, test results, surgical site identification) prior to patient transfer to the surgical suite.
•
Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating proficiency in advanced cardiac and pediatric life support interventions.
•
Provide thorough and accurate hand-off reports on patient's preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative status to receiving nurses.
•
Actively participate in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
•
Uphold regulatory requirements and ensure continuous compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations and policies.
•
Adhere to policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to maintain a safe environment for patients, public, and staff.
•
Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.
•
High School Diploma or equivalent.
•
Minimum of two (2) years of hospital nursing experience.
•
Previous Operating Room (OR) experience.
•
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (required for call positions, if applicable).
•
Exceptional critical thinking and decisive judgment skills.
•
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
•
Strong verbal and written communication skills, fostering positive working relationships with patients, staff, and vendors.
•
Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and effective time management.
•
Proficiency in applying AORN (Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses) and ASPAN (Association of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses) standards and recommended practices.
•
Competence in performing emergency interventions following ACLS and PALS algorithms.
•
Commitment to patient confidentiality, infection control, safety, and risk management principles.
•
Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or a Compact State.
•
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to start.
•
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification prior to start.
•
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification prior to start.
