•
Provide direct patient care, including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
•
Monitor and accurately record vital signs, weight, height, blood sugar, pulse oximetry, and intake/output measurements.
•
Observe and document patient conditions, behaviors, and any changes, reporting abnormal findings promptly to the Licensed Nurse (LN).
•
Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, and positioning, utilizing appropriate lifting techniques and equipment.
•
Respond to patient call lights and conduct regular rounds to ensure patient comfort and safety.
•
Collect and transport specimens to designated departments.
•
Prepare patient rooms for admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
•
Maintain cleanliness of utility rooms and equipment, preparing items for disinfection or sterilization.
•
Manage and replenish unit supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
•
Assist Licensed Nurses with patient transport preparation and other delegated tasks.
•
Provide one-on-one patient observation for safety as indicated.
•
Perform 12-lead Electrocardiograms (ECGs) and assist with telemetry monitoring.
•
Participate in cross-training initiatives across various hospital departments, including Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, Surgical Department, and Ward Clerk functions.
•
Engage in performance and process improvement projects within the unit.
•
Serve as a preceptor for incoming CNA staff and students.
•
High school diploma or equivalent.
•
Current full, unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of Alaska.
•
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
•
Ability to lift non-ambulatory patients regularly.
•
Proficiency in basic nursing care procedures and patient monitoring.
•
Ability to react calmly and make sound judgments in routine and emergency situations.
•
Strong observational and documentation skills.
•
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a caring and compassionate approach to patient care.
•
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
•
Competence in operating standard patient care equipment (e.g., vital sign monitors, anti-embolism stockings, SCDs).
•
Ability to accept and follow delegation from a Licensed Nurse.
•
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, including becoming a Point of Care Trainer.
•
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for environmental maintenance and supply management.
