Requirements:
•
Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
•
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
•
LTAC (Long-Term Acute Care) experience required
•
Current BLS certification required
•
PointClickCare charting system experience required
•
Proficiency in skilled nursing home procedures including medication administration, IV management, catheter care, wound care, feeding tube management, and assessment skills
•
Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
•
Availability for hospital orientation during first week
Preferred Qualifications:
•
Previous charge nurse experience
•
Community hospital or teaching hospital background
•
Trauma Level I or II experience
•
Experience with specialized care including dementia/memory care, stroke patients, rehabilitation, wound VAC therapy, and end-of-life care
•
Knowledge of central line care, tracheostomy care, and advanced wound management
Unit Details:
This 40-bed geriatric unit maintains an average daily census of 36 residents with very low acuity. The patient population includes residents with minimal complex medical needs—currently only one Foley catheter, one G-tube, and no IV patients on the unit. Many residents have care needs similar to assisted living. The night shift includes support from 2 CNAs, with nursing coverage of two RNs from 7 PM to 11 PM during the medication pass, transitioning to one RN overnight. An on-call physician is available after hours for clinical support.
