Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (Med-Surg: Ortho Trauma/General Surgery) – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), 36 or 48-hour contracts available, every other weekend required, no call
Highlights:

Specialized ortho trauma and general surgery unit with diverse patient population including bone/joint injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, and neurological trauma

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
•
Epic EMR with Pyxis medication management system
•
Contract available through February 27, 2027 with 36 or 48-hour weekly options
•
Comprehensive orientation including 12 hours of unit-specific and 16 hours of organizational education
•
Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
Requirements:
•
Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
•
BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
•
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
•
Ortho/Neuro/Trauma experience required
•
Charge nurse experience preferred
•
First-time travelers accepted
•
Must be comfortable with 1:5-6 patient ratios
•
Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
•
Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
•
Ability to work during catastrophic events or disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team
Clinical Skills:
•
Blood product administration, central line management and blood draws
•
Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
•
Heparin drip management and IV therapy
•
Interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias
•
Pre/post neurosurgery and hemodialysis care
•
Spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury management
•
External fixators, surgical drains, and wound vac management
•
Tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and feeding tube care
