Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. No call requirement. Block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday).
Highlights:
•
Fast-paced 39-bed orthopedic and neurosurgical spine unit with med-surg overflow
•
Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, may flex to 7:1 in extreme cases
•
Contract available for 20+ weeks through February 27, 2027 to support team through the holiday season
•
Epic EMR experience required; comprehensive orientation provided (36 hours)
•
Float requirements to other med-surg units within facility based on census needs
•
Up to 7 days requested time off may be approved (excluding holidays)
Requirements:
•
Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
•
Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with orthopedic experience required
•
Epic EMR experience required (first-time travelers accepted with Epic experience)
•
Current certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale required
•
Proficiency in IV start and telemetry monitoring
•
Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
•
Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
•
Preferred: ACLS certification, Charge Nurse experience, Level I Trauma experience
Patient Population:
•
Orthopedic patients including total joint replacements and orthopedic trauma
•
Neurosurgical spine and spinal cord injury patients
•
Med-surg and post-surgical patients requiring complex pain management
•
Average daily census: 37 patients
Clinical Skills Utilized:
•
Advanced pain management protocols for post-surgical and trauma patients
•
Central and peripheral line care/management
•
Blood product administration and heparin protocols
•
Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
•
PCA pumps and peripheral nerve block catheter management
•
BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
•
Surgical drain care and non-invasive airway management
