Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48-hour weeks, 13 or 26-week contract available. Weekend requirement of 3 per 6-week scheduling period; 2 out of 3 winter holidays required. Orientation: 36 hours.Highlights:- Level III/IV NICU with 54-bed capacity caring for extreme prematurity (22 weeks+), complex cardiac anomalies, surgical cases, and diverse neonatal diagnoses- Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU patients, 1:3 for stepdown- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and radiology- Advanced technology including ECMO, high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and nitric oxide therapy- Float requirements within scope: PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, and L&D (newborn care and transitions)- Maximum 40 hours approved time off per 13-week contract; no time off approved around Christmas or during first two weeks of assignmentRequirements:- Minimum 2 years of full-time Level III NICU experience required; Level IV highly preferred- Current Virginia RN license (may submit with pending license; must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)- BLS and NRP certifications required at time of submission- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may be pending at submission; $200 cost)- Epic charting experience required- Strong experience required with: high-frequency ventilators, conventional ventilators, iNO, tracheostomy care, NIPPV/NIMV, CPAP/BiPAP, IV drips and hemodynamic support, post-operative care, whole body cooling, IV placements, lab draws, wound/drain/line care, ostomy care, and ABG interpretation- Proficiency in neonatal dosage calculations, UAC/UVC management, central line care, chest tube management, and assisting with lumbar punctures and line placements- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required- BSN preferred- Nursys verification and professional references required with submissionWhy It's a Great Opportunity:This position offers the chance to provide high-acuity neonatal critical care using cutting-edge technology in a well-resourced environment.
