# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Neuro Stepdown – North Carolina
Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Schedule: 4 x 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 48-hour shifts may be available. Minimum of 3 weekend shifts required every six weeks. No call required. Floating to other intermediate care areas and critical care units as needed.

Patient ratio of 1:4 on a 24-bed unit with comprehensive interdisciplinary support

Epic charting system with 32 hours of orientation including computer training and unit-based shifts

Contract duration flexible from 16+ weeks through February 27, 2027
•
Work with complex neurological cases including CVA, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, aneurysms, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgery patients
•
Strong emphasis on teamwork and professional behavioral standards
Requirements:
•
Current North Carolina or Compact RN license
•
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; neuro stepdown or progressive care experience strongly preferred
•
Previous travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
•
Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
•
Epic EMR experience required; must pass EKG testing prior to start
•
Demonstrated competency in titrating vasoactive drips including Levophed, cardiac drips, and insulin protocols
•
Expertise in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
•
Proficiency with ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
•
Experience with central lines, PICC lines, blood product administration, and IV therapy
•
Competence in neurological assessments and care including lumbar drains, post-TPA care, seizure management, and substance withdrawal
•
Skills in feeding tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, pre/post hemodialysis care, and wound care/wound vac
•
Ability to adhere to attendance policy and demonstrate professional collaboration with patients and staff
•
Willingness to float to other intermediate and critical care areas within the facility
•
Completion of 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules (non-billable)
Preferred Qualifications:
•
CCRN, TNCC, or CPI certification
•
Experience with port access and management, phlebotomy, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, and triage
•
Previous charge nurse experience
