Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Neurosurgery / Medical-Surgical Telemetry – Wisconsin

Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with weekend rotation and holidays as needed. 1:4 patient ratio.

Work on a specialized 25-bed neurosurgery general care unit within a Magnet-designated, nationally ranked teaching facility

Diverse patient population including post-surgical neuro cases (spine surgeries, brain tumors, craniotomy), multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, stroke, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury patients
•
Part of a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program with capability to treat the most complex stroke cases
•
Epic EMR system with 24 hours of orientation provided
•
Collaborative interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
•
Evidence-based practice environment focused on patient and family-centered care
Requirements
•
Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
•
Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Neuro Medical-Surgical/Telemetry within the last 3 years
•
Epic charting system experience required
•
BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
•
Successful completion of telemetry competency exam prior to start (strict passing criteria applies)
•
Trauma Level I experience preferred
•
Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
•
Previous travel nursing experience preferred
•
Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Clinical Skills
Qualified candidates should demonstrate proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV therapy and central line management, blood product administration, ventilator support (BiPAP/CPAP), tracheostomy care, chest tube management, wound care/wound vac, PCA pumps, insulin protocols including IV insulin, feeding tube management, isolation precautions, and phlebotomy. Experience with port access, PICC line management, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, CVA, and substance withdrawal management is essential.
