# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Stepdown/Progressive Care – North CarolinaStart Date: October 26, 2026

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeksHighlights:- Specialized neuro stepdown unit with 24-bed capacity serving neurological and medical intermediate patient populations- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy- Contract lengths from 16+ weeks available through February 2027- 32 hours of structured orientation including computer training and unit-specific clinical shifts- Float opportunities to other intermediate and critical care areas to expand clinical experience- No on-call requirement; flexible 36- and 48-hour weekly schedules availableRequirements:- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience required- Previous travel nursing experience required – first-time travelers cannot be considered- Neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, or Telemetry experience strongly preferred- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS- Epic EMR experience required- Must demonstrate competency in vasoactive drip titration (including Levophed), cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, neurological assessments, and advanced IV therapy skills- Extensive clinical skill set required including: blood product administration, central line/PICC management, ventilator care, chest tube management, feeding tube care, insulin drip protocols, heparin protocols, TR band, pre/post hemodialysis management, and wound care/wound vac- Neurological skills required: CVA care, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, aneurysm repair, intracranial bleeds, seizure management, spinal cord injury, post-TPA care, lumbar drains, and substance withdrawal- Respiratory competencies: BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation, and ventilated patient management- Must successfully pass EKG competency testing prior to start date- Willingness to float to other intermediate and critical care units as neededPreferred Qualifications:- Port access and management experience- Phlebotomy skills- ICP monitoring experience- Conscious sedation and charge nurse experience- CCRN, TNCC, or CPI certificationsWhy It's a Great Opportunity:This position offers the chance to work with a complex and rewarding patient population in a specialized neuro stepdown environment.
