Job Summary
Join the dedicated nursing team at MVHS-Wynn, 6th Floor Medical-Surgical unit, located in Utica, New York. This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive care to an adult patient population within a dynamic hospital setting.
The Medical-Surgical unit specializes in post-surgical care, managing a diverse range of conditions including abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and morbid obesity requiring bariatric surgery. You will be instrumental in patient recovery and rehabilitation.
As a Medical-Surgical RN, you will utilize your clinical expertise to deliver high-quality patient care, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and contribute to positive patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
•
Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
•
Manage post-surgical patients with various diagnoses such as abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery.
•
Administer medications, perform treatments, and monitor patient responses according to physician orders and hospital policies.
•
Operate and manage specialized equipment including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
•
Accurately document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
•
Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
•
Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
•
Float to other units as required by patient census and staffing needs.
Required Qualifications
•
Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical (MS) setting.
•
Prior travel nursing experience.
•
Experience caring for adult patient populations.

Licensing Requirements
•
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
•
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
