Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Tennessee

Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. Self-scheduling available within staffing guidelines. Block scheduling available for night shift. Schedule finalized 2 weeks in advance with ability to request days off.

29-bed Progressive Care Unit with 4:1 patient ratio and excellent support staff including unit secretaries and 2-3 PCTs per shift

Cardiac-focused patient population including post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients transitioning from ICU

Advanced technology including iMobile devices for encrypted communication, Patient Keeper chart access, MobiLab specimen collection, and wound documentation capabilities
•
Modern equipment: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry and MP2 monitors, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds
•
Electronic documentation via Meditech EMR system
•
48-hour guarantee with multiple positions available
Requirements:
•
Active RN license in Tennessee or compact state license
•
BLS and ACLS certifications required
•
Cardiac/telemetry experience required; PCU and/or critical care experience strongly preferred
•
Advanced skills: IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy care, central line management, EKG interpretation, Foley management, early mobility protocols
•
Experience with critical care drips including vasoactive medications (Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetalol, Insulin, Precedex)
Patient Population:
•
Complex medical, cardiac, and surgical patients requiring intermediate-level care
•
Conditions include: Post-CABG (day one), post-valve surgery, post-thoracic and neurosurgery, sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, post-catheterization, renal failure, DKA, respiratory failure, GI bleed, pneumonia
•
Q6H comprehensive head-to-toe assessments with full documentation
•
Procedures performed: Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKG, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, ADLs
