Job Opportunity – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse – Virginia

Schedule: 13-week assignment | 36 or 48 hours per week | Night shift | 3 weekends per six-week schedule | Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays | Patient ratio 1:1 or 1:2 (may be 2:1 for high acuity)
Highlights:

Combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care unit with high census and high acuity patients
•
Cardiac diagnoses include DORV, TOF, HLHS, Norwood procedures, TGA, and heart transplant patients
•
Medical diagnoses include TBI, RSV, DKA, trauma, seizures, post-op cases, and liver/kidney transplant patients
•
Epic EMR system with 24 hours of orientation provided
•
May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
•
Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during the contract (not available during first 2 weeks)
•
Pediatric cardiac experience is a plus
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with patient ratio experience
•
Active Virginia RN license or license pending (must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
•
Current BLS and PALS certifications required
•
Epic charting system experience required
•
Trauma Level I experience preferred
•
Flu vaccination required (no exemptions available); COVID-19 vaccination not required
•
Strong competency in advanced pediatric critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, hemodynamic monitoring, ECMO, VADs, CRRT, administration of IV vasopressors, chest tube management, and care of cardiac patients
