# Job Opportunity – Pediatric Critical Care Nurse – Virginia
Start Date: October 2026
Location: Central Virginia

Schedule: 13-week contract, 36 or 48 hours per week, rotating shifts including 3 weekends per 6-week schedule. Two winter holidays required. 24 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights:
•
Combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care unit with high census and high acuity
•
Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity; may include 2:1 for complex cases
•
Cardiac cases include DORV, TOF, HLHS, Norwood procedures, TGA, and heart transplant patients
•
Medical cases include trauma, post-operative (ortho, neuro, liver/kidney transplant), RSV, DKA, seizures, and hematology/oncology
•
Epic charting system; specialty equipment includes ECMO, VADs, and CRRT
•
May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
Requirements:
•
Active Virginia RN license or pending (must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
•
Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
•
BLS and PALS certifications required
•
Pediatric cardiac experience strongly preferred
•
Trauma Level I experience preferred
•
Epic charting experience required
•
Proficiency with advanced skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, hemodynamic monitoring, central line care, chest tube management, and high-flow nasal cannula
