Job Opportunity – Pediatric Critical Care Nurse – Virginia
Start Date: October 26, 2026

Schedule: 13-week assignment with flexible scheduling options including 36 or 48-hour weeks. Rotating schedule with three weekends per six-week schedule. Must work two of the three winter holidays. May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs.
Highlights:
•
Combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care unit with high acuity and high census
•
Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity, with 25-bed capacity and daily census of approximately 23 patients
•
Cardiac cases include DORV, TOF, HLHS, Norwood procedures, heart transplants, and other complex congenital heart conditions
•
Medical cases include trauma, DKA, RSV, seizures, post-operative orthopedic/neuro cases, and liver/kidney transplants
•
Epic charting system with 24 hours of paid orientation
•
Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during the contract (not available during first two weeks)
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years of pediatric critical care nursing experience required
•
Current BLS and PALS certifications required
•
Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted if obtained by Wednesday before start date)
•
Epic charting experience required
•
Pediatric cardiac experience strongly preferred
•
Trauma Level I experience preferred
•
Strong skills in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, arterial line management, central line care, chest tube management, sedation administration, and pediatric dosage calculations
•
Experience with specialized equipment including ECMO, VADs, and CRRT is highly valued
•
Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccination not required
