Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Acute Leukemia and Hematology – Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts or night shifts available. Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs. Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs. 72-hour orientation provided.
Highlights:
•
Specialized 24-bed acute leukemia and hematology unit caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
•
Goal staffing ratio of 1:4 (may be 1:5 based on census)
•
Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
•
Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with high volume of blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
•
Daily census of approximately 22 patients with emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety
•
May float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units; oncology experience preferred but not required
Requirements:
•
Current, valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license)
•
Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of PCU/Stepdown experience (experience must be current within the last 12 months)
•
Previous travel nursing experience required
•
BLS and ACLS certifications (current and valid)
•
NIHSS certification required
•
Proficiency in Epic charting system required
•
Competency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
•
Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
•
Skills in feeding tube care and management, and use of rapid response teams
•
Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
•
Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
•
ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required for this position
•
Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role

One pre-approved time off period is available and must be requested at time of submission.
