Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Acute Leukemia and Hematology – Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotating or Nights only). If accepting a rotating contract, shift assignments may include days, nights, or a combination based on departmental needs. Schedules are reviewed every 4-week period. Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs.
Highlights:

Specialize in acute leukemia patient care with a focus on newly diagnosed patients

Goal staffing ratio of 1:4 (may reach 1:5 based on census)

Epic charting system in use

72-hour comprehensive orientation provided

Chemo certification NOT required for this position
•
24-bed medical unit with high-acuity patient population requiring blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
•
Current and consistent acute care experience within the last 12 months required
•
Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
•
BLS and ACLS certifications required
•
NIHSS certification preferred
•
ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
•
Graduation from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
•
Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
•
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line management, PICC lines, and starting IVs
•
Knowledge of feeding tube care and Rapid Response Team protocols
•
Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will be screened for client review
•
Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)

Additional Information:

Potential float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units as needed

Patient population: Adults and Geriatrics
•
Unit census: approximately 22 patients daily
•
Equipment includes GE telemetry monitoring system, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
•
Oncology experience preferred but not required
•
One pre-approved time off period allowed
•
Strict compliance requirements including urgent Ohio fingerprinting process upon contract signing
•
Former employees eligible after 6 months separation from facility
•
Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director level)
