Schedule: Night shift, 36-48 hours per week, 13-week assignment. Every other weekend and every other holiday required; must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays.
Highlights:
•
Join a high-volume unit averaging 2,000 deliveries annually with both low-risk and high-risk maternal populations
•
Work with 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
•
Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
•
Cross-training opportunities to Mother/Baby unit and NICU (feeders/growers) to expand clinical skills
•
Patient ratio of 1-2 patients, with circulating for C-sections and OB PACU responsibilities
•
36 hours of orientation with specialty-specific modules to ensure successful onboarding
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
•
Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted if in hand by Wednesday before start date)
•
Required certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and Fetal Monitoring
•
ACLS certification required
•
Epic charting system experience required
•
Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccination not required
•
Nursys verification and professional references required at submission
Clinical Experience Required:
•
Labor & Delivery, triage of obstetrical patients, and antepartum care
•
High-risk patient management including gestational diabetes requiring insulin drips, preeclampsia/eclampsia, preterm labor, and maternal comorbidities
•
Low-risk deliveries including certified nurse midwife patient populations
•
Circulating for cesarean sections, bilateral tubal ligations, and cerclage procedures
•
Neonatal resuscitation, newborn assessment, and baby-friendly protocols
•
Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and postpartum hemorrhage
•
Magnesium sulfate therapy, IV starts and maintenance, and venous blood draws
Additional Responsibilities:
•
Float to Mother/Baby and NICU units for feeder/grower care as needed
•
Provide routine care for stable NICU infants, recognizing changes and communicating concerns promptly
•
Safely manage feeding plans, medication administration, and documentation
•
Work with specialized equipment including lift equipment, Sara Stedy Sit transfer devices, and interoperability systems
Time Off & Scheduling:
•
Maximum 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract (must be disclosed at submission)
•
6-7 weekend shifts per contract
•
Any pre-start vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed upfront
