Description: The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. Considers the patient’s culture, age, and developmental level. Identifies patient risk factors and collecting health information as necessary. Develops a problem list and prioritizes patient needs based on input from the inter-professional team. Determines desired outcomes in coordination with the patient and family. Explains procedures, treatments, and processes to patients and families. Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient conditions appropriately. Conducts and documents ongoing assessments and responses to procedures and therapies. Delegates tasks appropriately and oversees team members in the performance of patient care. Identifies and addresses educational needs of patients. Facilitates the patient discharge process by executing discharge orders timely. Promotes a positive group dynamic and healing environment through words and actions. Actively participates in quality improvement activities and core measures. Uses a holistic perspective regarding patient care.
