Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Neuroscience Acute Care – Virginia

Schedule: Night shift, 13-week assignment. Choice of 36 or 48-hour work weeks. Every other weekend required. Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. 1:4 patient ratio on a 30-bed Neurosurgery and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery acute care unit. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated.
Highlights:

Specialized acute care unit focusing on neurosurgery and ENT/head and neck surgery with diverse patient diagnoses including stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and pre/post-surgical care
•
Epic EMR system utilized for charting and documentation
•
24-hour orientation provided to support successful onboarding
•
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
•
Dynamic patient flow with 8-10 discharges and admissions daily from PACU, ED, and ICU
•
Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during the 13-week contract
Requirements:
•
Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience
•
Current RN license in Virginia (pending licenses accepted if obtained by the Wednesday before start date)
•
BLS and NIHSS certifications required
•
Epic charting system experience required
•
Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, central line care, IV insulin protocols, wound care, and management of neuroscience patients
•
Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
•
Willingness to adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
